I have always loved macro photography. I had about 10 minutes one day to photograph some flowers I had purchased 3 days earlier. I threw them out on the patio in a vase, positioned them toward the sun and started shooting with my canon 60mm macro lense. I was very lucky to get this one. My favorite part is the yellow and red contrast. I used f 2.8, and ISO 100 hand held. I prefer to shoot macros with a tripod but my rushing around only permitted a few quick shots. I can't wait until my orchids are blooming again!!

Well the challenges get bigger as I move "up" to newer equipment. Newer lenses come with the need to figure out, when do I use each one?? I am currently in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and the colors are becoming beautiful as I type! My house overlooks several mountain ranges including Mount LeConte. The clouds have been releasing rain on and off for two days so I never know if I'll get rained on while trying to get a "shot". I am reading several photo magazines every night to tweak the day's pictures and make better decisions tommorrow. My favorite lens is now a Sigma 17-35mm 2.8-4 DG HSM wide angle. It has given me some great landscape pictures which I will be putting on my website amybecerraphotography.com.

This is a picture of my first orchid of the season. I took the picture late in the afternoon on my patio. The sun was setting behind me and the orchid was facing the setting sun. The flower appears "backlit" because the light was reflecting off the patio walls onto the back of the orchid. I have a photo gallery at http://www.amybecerraphotography.com/, please drop by and have a look! All my pictures are copyrighted and not for reprint, thank you.
